Who had keys to the multiple gates and padlocks throughout the facility? Los Angeles International Airport required a high-level security solution. If that solution was to be electronic, it had to work flawlessly in the outdoors, resist salt air and not interfere with the two-way radio and radar emissions of the airport.
In the Autumn of 2000, the EKA System (under the US trade name) was chosen to provide security throughout the Los Angeles International Airport facilities.
The system was quickly expanded to include doors, padlocks, gates and cabinets. Maintenance on the system was minimal, limited to changing key batteries every 3000 openings. EKA’s superior audit trail systems told the Airport security department who was opening what doors and when.
