WIKA Gauges fulfill the requirements of flame arresters in accordance with EN ISO 16852 for mounting to zone 0 applications.

The WIKA model 910.21 pre-volume deflagration flame arrester enables the mounting of pressure measuring instruments and diaphragm seal systems in areas with requirements to EPL Ga (zone 0).

The WIKA model 910.21 pre-volume deflagration flame arrester, also briefly just called “flame arrester”, enables the mounting of pressure measuring instruments and diaphragm seal systems to zone 0. It is expertly connected at the factory to a measuring instrument to form a measuring assembly and prevents the flame from passing from the instrument side to the process side in the event of a failure.

The pre-volume deflagration flame arrester is available for

  • Mechanical and mechatronic pressure measuring instruments
    with Ex approval
  • Diaphragm seals mounted to a measuring instrument
    with Ex approval.

It fulfils the requirements of the harmonised standard EN ISO 16852:2016 “Flame arresters …”.
It is approved in accordance with ATEX and thus fulfils the European safety requirements for explosion protection in accordance with the ATEX directive.

In addition, it is the first pre-volume deflagration flame arrester to have IECEx approval which is based on the ISO 16852:2016 standard and thus meets international safety requirements with regard to explosion protection.


This makes WIKA the only manufacturer currently to have approved pressure measuring assemblies with integrated pre-volume deflagration flame arresters with IECEx approval in accordance with ISO 16852.
