Gefran Pressure Sensor for Extrusion ...
Extrusion pressure measurement is used to protect screws and barrels, as well as control screw speed and pressure at the die. Gefran has released the K series, filled with Nak conforming to RoHS Directive and defined as a safe substance [GRAS]. These replace directly all the earlier types M30, M31 and M32 with mercury fill. KE replaces ME series with analog (commonly 4-20mA] outputs in ranges from 0-35 to 0-1000bar.
Alternate diaphragm materials are used for different extruded materials such as Inconel 718 for temperatures to 538C and Hastelloy C276 for chemically agressive materials to 300C. Double thickness diaphragms increase life, have a small effect on accuracy and attract only a small price premium.
