Robotic Cathode Stripping

Fanuc M900/600 robots were utilised for a more flexible stripping process compared to traditional hydraulic stripping machines. Originally involved in the programming of the prototype machines for Xstrata Technology in Townsville, Automation Solutions also assisted to refine the application onsite at CST’s Lady Annie mining operation in North West Queensland, as well as provide Fanuc robot training for the maintenance crews.

An Allen Bradley Compact Logix PLC controls operations within the cell.

The Fanuc robots were optioned with severe dust and liquid protection as they are located in a very harsh environment, being exposed to acid mist from the tank house and a grueling desert environment.

Also installed was Fanuc DCS, providing a safety-rated software boundary to where the robots can operate.
