ElastiSense Contact Capacitive Displacement ...
ElastiSense Contact Capacitive Displacement SensorĀ
Bestech Australia now introduced the release of capacitive-based contact displacement sensor, EDS, from ElastiSense. The sensing element is made of a hyper-elastic elastomer stretchable strain gage that is comprised of dielectric sheet and deformable electrodes. Displacement can be measured based on the change in capacitance of the sensor element due to stretching.
Unlike other piston-based displacement sensor, the EDS sensor offers capabilities to measure both linear and off-axis measurement due to its flexible nature. It is also highly resistant against shock, vibration and installation misalignment which makes it ideal for application in harsh industrial environment. This low-cost sensor also has no sliding parts which further reduce its installation and maintenance costs.
The EDS series contact capacitive displacement sensor may be used either as a standalone or as a part of the system together with the other daisy-chained sensors. The sensor also offers easy integration with industrial interface with capability to provide both analog and digital output in a RS485 network. It also has fast measurement rate up to 10kSamples per seconds which is suitable for dynamic applications.
This ground-breaking technology has already added values in metal forming applications to detect faulty operations of stamping tools due to presence of metal slugs. Other potentials applications include process automation, structural condition monitoring, predictive maintenance and even R&D. For further information, please visit our website or contact us. Our application engineers will assist you with your enquiries and provide the best appropriate solutions.
