A high thermal efficiency is achieved by the silicone insulated heating element sandwiched in between the layers and woven back and forth along the length of the jacket. Adding a mixer/agitator:
For medium viscosity products, the addition of an IBC agitator/mixer can speed up the rate of heating by moving the harder-to-heat middle contents to the outside of the mass nearer to the heat source. Mixers can be used independently of heating and dependent upon viscosity can be screwed into the top of the IBC or have its own frame with fork tyne sleeves for easier mounting.
Direct application of heat:
In some cases the direct application of heat via an immersion heater can offer quick results where the product is able to absorb heat without spoiling. This can be a messy process and should there be a variety of products to warm, then cross contamination risks should be considered. The warming impact can increase when combined with an insulation only jacket as heat loss is reduced.
Indirect Heat - the IBC / drum oven:
Though expensive to set up and run, high volume production is still suited to batch heating in an oven though lack of flexibility in the positioning of the oven in relationship to the production process can be an issue.
